magn. isolation on the ramp |

height compensation for the second magnet |
On the one hand there is the possibility to repair the existing pickup coils and use the ZDG4-box, however, on the other hand these coils still are a big malfunction source and, moreover, the signal quality and height is subject to a big fabrication spread. So also here is the chance to use the Hall-pickups, but in addition a few mechanical work is necessary. As already here described, the ignition ZDG3 needs a 60° signal with two magnets right on the flywheel, one magnet exactly on the ramp. Because one cannot simply remove this ramp without rebalancing the flywheel, a possibility had to be found to bring the second sensor on the same height. A additional problem is that the magnets can't be put simply in magnetically conducting material (here the steel of the flywheel), so they must be magnetically isolated. I'm using thread bolts from brass or VA at whose ends the magnet with a special glue is stuck (the glue is used in the sensor technology for fastening DMS measuring stripes ). |
In the picture on top you can see the ready flywheel with the both (isolated) magnets, in the right pictures the adaptation of the coil carrier to the PCBs. In the lower picture you can see the test assembly, the PCBs are not covered yet. Moreover, a small LED is brought on the PCB to control the switch process. You can see how the sensor by the preceding magnet is switched on and is switched off again by the magnet on the ramp. This LED is very practical for adjusting and will be moved to the input plug of the box. |

The modified pickup holder. |
 |
| The other alternative is a new flywheel made of aluminium with which the engine responds faster. A stable idle running in spite of less weight is guarenteed by the new ignition. |

The magnets integrated into the flywheel provide for maximum security... |
|
... they are not only simply glued, but are used in a thread bolt with a collar. |
|
Then this thread bolt is screwed into the disc with high-strength screw protection and will be casted in addition. So in all situations the magnets become become 'unloseable'! |
