The MV Agusta still has a classic 'car distribution' which makes the retrofitting to an electronic ignition not easier. Simply replace the contact to an electronic switch is only a half-hearted solution, because the mechanical advance remains.

The solution offered here is more of a radical, because the distribution is deprived of its proper function, and the high voltage ignition wires will remain only for the optics. Therefore contact breakers and advance unit will be completely removed and replaced by Hallsensor unit and a magnetic disk. The original coil is replaced by two twin output ignition coils. This has the advantage that each cylinder is supplied with an optimum ignition voltage.

Each pair of cylinders has its own stand-alone ignition, i.e. two microcontrollers for two pair of cylinders, therefore, two Hall sensors. This has the advantage that the precise ignition advance is calculated separately for each pair of cylinders.
Matching coils can either be ordered, or you can use any existing twin output coils. The only requirement is an input resistance greater than 2 Ohms.
