Mechanical advance unit and breaker points will be replaced by the printed circuit board and the pulse disc. The adjustment happens via turning the disc while the piston is exactly on TDC and a little LED indicates the correct position. Further adjustments are not necessary.
In the BMW standard design a single-channel box is used, i.e. two 6V-ignition coils in row or a 12V-double ignition coil can be attached. With two 12V-ignition coils the twin-channel box must be used.
